These Tepis were hand-made in a Kuntanawa village in the Acre province of Brazil. Aside from the kuripe which is a self applicator the Tepi is meant for a person-to-person application. In the Amazon, Hapeh is used before important ceremonies, meetings, or other tribal events. It is common that rather than self administer, Hapeh will be passed from one person to another with a Tepi. Two people will choose to serve each other to strengthen communal bonds and apply the Hapeh with more force than a self-serve.
These tepis include a bamboo stem, clay and huayruro seeds for protection.
Please be advised, in the Amazon a great deal of seriousness is placed upon the serving of Hapeh to another person. It is said that it is not good to receive Hapeh from someone through a Tepi unless you completely trust that person. This is because during this process there can be a significant exchange of energy between two people and if not done with care could be potentially harmful. The advice we have received from our friends in the Amazon is that these tools are best used between close friends.
Due to the continuing crisis in the Amazon surrounding the current global situation, and the lack of tourism and economic growth in the tribal communities we have decided to release a limited supply of these tepis. Get them while supplies last!
