This hapéh contains bark ash of the Cumaru tree created by Yube and his aunt of the Huni Kuin of Acre, Brazil.

Yube (aka José de Lima Kaxinawa) is the Vice President of FEPHAC; the Federation of the Huni Kuin People of the State of Acre, Brazil. Yube ‘Zezinho’ comes from a long lineage of Huni Kuin traditions, which include detailed artisanal beading and textiles, plant medicines, songs, ceremonial dances, and the preservation of their living language. He works to unite their numerous villages to make positive changes in Acre and the region at large. As a cultural ambassador for his and other Amazonian tribes, he has traveled the world to forge alliances for his people.

Cumaru is an aromatic tree that is good for the lungs. The tree has many medicinal uses, some cultures will use the seeds to make traditional jewelry, which is often a means to make the seeds more portable for long journeys into the jungle. In times of extreme physical exertion, it is common that seeds will be plucked off of jewelry and used to make an invigorating tea in order to move through the jungle more effectively. When used in hapéh it is believed that Cumaru both cleans the mind and allows it to work better. It is also a common belief for many Amazonian cultures that Cumaru is an anti-viral, making it a very popular blend for today’s current global situation.

Glass vial contains 10 or 20 grams of powder. Good for connecting to the spirit of the Amazon and the spirit of the sacred plants.
