These beaded earrings come from many different families of the Wixarika(Huichol) Nation who reside in TaTeki village of San Andres, Jalisco Mexico.
These pieces were purchased on pilgrimage to Wixrikuta from families who do not have the opportunity to leave and sell their art outside of the villages. Purchasing this artwork helps the locals buy food, clothing, school supplies for their children, and also candles for their prayers and offerings. For many of these artisans, this work is their only source of income.
